And another one…..

Hello,

I am back. I have been super busy lately and have sworn off forums for the most part so I have been focusing on building cars a lot more and tuning rather than fighting with E retards.

Well I guess a short run down of what the deal is with me.  I have been tuning as usual but I also have been helping put some cars together for people at the shop and out of state.

I am currently wiring a Mazda RX-8 that has a 20b and a GT4094.  It has been quite the task but is coming along swimmingly. I think just a couple more months and it should be up and running.  Pretty cool deal.  I will take some pictures of it and write a seperate blog about it some other time.

Here are 2 cars that I just did in New Mexico last week.  Both were super clean and very fast:

Now onto the other stuff, dyno sheets:

Silver Evo 8:

This car is an Evo 8 with a 2.3l and Cosworth Head. Turbo is an HTA 86. Very fast car for sure.  This was done on E-85 and can probably get close to 800whp with closer to 40psi.

Evo 9:

This Evo is  a normal GT35R and a 2.3l stock head with some cams.  This is on just 91 crap octane.  Really smooth power band and the car ran great.

Both of these cars were tuned on the AEM EMS.

Well I hope to be back soon with some updates of the RX8 and the Audi R8 I have to tune next week. Maybe one day Pigeon Jon will make a guest apperance once he stops beating his bags.

Holy Shit!!! A new blog from VE!!

Hello Hello,

It has been awhile for sure.  I have not been on here in a minute to update the blog.  So much has happened I dont even know where to begin.

Well first off in my personal life I have been working out a ton and in the best shape I have been in a long time.  Hooray for running.

Anyways most of the 5 people reading this don’t give a shit about my personal life and/or appearance so I will get onto some car stuff.

I have been testing turbos with Geoff from Full Race a bit when I get a free second ( which I don’t get often lol).  I will post the results as soon as we are done so stay tuned for that.

Pigeon Jon AKA Terry Tate’s Taint has come and gone a couple times to help out and is busy with school in Colorado, the home of hairy chicks.

My Subaru is getting built as soon as I figure out if I am getting kicked out of my house ( long story) and then it is getting to get sold.  I think next on the build list is a 1976 Caddy on bags.  Why you ask?  Just to be different.  I have been building turbo 4 and 6 cylinders for just about 10 years non stop and want to drive something a little different for a minute.

Ohhhhhh and guess what this is:

Yes an F1 car.  Now mix that with this:

What do you get???????? Me going to the Monaco Grand Prix this year.  I don’t know what I did to be able to deserve this but I must have done something right, or be good at what I do to go for free, well almost free.

Should be a good time and I am stoked.  Got tickets for the race, go to the Cannes Film Festival and maybe make it to Germany to say whats up to my peep Chico, The Mad Mexican at Nur.

Stay tuned I promise I will update this a bit more often.  For those of you in the dark check the site www.veeengineering.com and jump on the forum and say hi.  Not on much as I have been super busy but I will have a little free time this week as I will be in Colorado attending a funeral.

That is all for now,

FP Red Turbo, Cosworth Long Block HOOOO RAAAYYY!!!

Hello All,

Well this has been a crazy week for us here at VE.  We have been breaking in engines and tuning cars and it is almost over thank god.

But yesterday we did a car that I wanted to share with people.  Vivid did a full build on this car and it was gangster.  I dont have finished pics but the body kit was from a company that starts with a V and ends in Oltex.  Murder she wrote.

Anyways who cares about the way a car looks anyways.  ( Well I do)  On to the power.

I tuned this car on the stock Ecu and the car had the following list of mods:

Cosworth 2.2L stroker Longblock

Cosworth M3 Mivec Cams ( Murder)

FP Red

1200cc injectors

91 octane

This car had a cat in it which I was not thrilled about but what could I do.  But the car came out awesome anyways.  I really like Cosworth stuff BTW.  Everytime I have done a head or motor the cars just have a different tone to them and make great power.  Rock on Cosworth.

Dyno Sheet:

FP RED COSWORTH FTMFW!!!!

FP RED COSWORTH FTMFW!!!!

Car feels awesome on the road.  I think the customer is going to go to E-85 and really start to crush skulls with this setup.  Look out people cause this car will damage 90% of the cars on the road.

Anyways that is all for now. Have fun and be safe.

2008 STI Tune

Hello,

It has been a while and I have a good amount of stuff to update but we will start with this one thing for now.

I have some big things happening in the next week so please keep checking back and follow the chronicles of the VE Engineering crew.  One of them involves tuning of something that does not drive. I will leave that up to your imagination.

Also trying to work on a totally new website so keep an eye out for that.  It will be ten times better than it was before.  No more Fisher-Price “My First Website.”

Anyway on to what I was saying Jon and I had a rough night thursday night involving Saki, so I decided to make Friday an easy day and start building my 2008 STI maps.  I have been able to tune Cobb now so I worked with a friend of mine on getting his car all set up and tuned.

This car from the factory made great power.  I have never seen any Subaru ever dyno this high but this thing did really well.

As some of my faithful readers know these cars have to get tunes on them as soon as you do ANY aftermarket part for performance.  The pistons, like on the 2007 STI, blow dudes.  They are super weak yet again and that makes tuning them a blast.  You have to keep them a tad rich and they can not show any detonation, IE- Lower timing numbers.  So get a tune if you are doing putting exhausts or anything on as it can take a motor down if you dont.

I did an initial tune going off the basic Cobb Stage 1 map and it turned out great.  Another quick point,  Cobb is a fantastic company.  They have top notch support and there product works great.  To top it off they are a good bunch of guys.

Anyways take a look:

2008 STI Dyno before and after

2008 STI Dyno before and after

The following are the modifications done to the car:

Perrin Panel Filter

That is it.  That is the only thing the car had on it was just the Panel filter.  This gain was made in just tuning which is pretty fantastic.

Anyways I have gotten to Stage 2 maps so I can now do the Stage 1 & 2 for the 2008 STI so if anyone is interested please let me know.

Lands End Hill Climb, Not so Grand Junction, CO

Hello All,

This past weekend Gus, Big “e” aka baby biter, and I all attended the Lands End Hill Climb in Grand Junction, CO.  For those that dont know Colorado all that well Grand Junction is about 5 hours from where I live in the FO CO.  It seems like it is longer than that as you are driving to the edge of the state, and Colorado is a wide state.

We got there Friday night and went straight to the car show that the local Suabaru dealership put on with some of the rally cars there.  It was lame.

Anyways went out that night and had some dinner and some food at this little local hangout which I guess it the local “spot” as it was crawling with hot girls, and flat bill platapusses. ( More on these guys in another post)  For some reason the whole city of Grand Junction was crawling with hot ass girls and wierd ass dudes.  Who would have thunk it.

Anyways on to the rally stuff.  We went up on Saturday which was qualifying and hung out for half the day.  A lot of the cars were out in full effect and most looked really good. The Kerns ended up finishing first in Qual so they got to pick there starting spot on Sunday.

Now on Sunday was race day and everyone was stoked.  Redbull gave us 2 tents and 20 cases of redbull so that was pretty cool of them.  Day went like this:

-Prostock guys go– Couple crash wow suprise

-Quads go– Couple guys crash one gets carted off in an ambulance

-Rally Cars go– Kick ass!!! I think the worst that happened was the escort cosworth ran out of gas 3 turns before the finish lol.

Anyways here are some results as best as I can remember.  The record for this hill climb was 5minutes 3 seconds.  Dave and Allison Kern crushed that with a best of 4 minutes 52 seconds.  That is an astounding 11 seconds which is amazing.  The Salta boys came in second in AWD rally class with a 5.14.XX.  Congrats goes out to Steve and Brain for showing once again why they build the best rally cars in this state.

Now onto Pics:

Now I want you to look at this car above and really get a good look at it.  This is a real Ford Escort Cosworth.  This is one of the coolest cars I have ever seen, Period.  This thing is so well put together from a 7 speed dog box, Dry Carbon Door Inserts, you get the idea.  This car will be at Rally America where me and Gus will be competing.  I am going to go up a couple days early and retune this thing.  There is talk of next season of redoing the ecu system and switching to a Pectel system.  If you ask yourself “what is  pectel”  then dont ask anymore as you dont need to know.  Stick to your S-AFC’s and UTECS and let the real men build real cars.

So stay tuned for more on the Escort Cosworth.  Gus and I have something else in the works as well already for the next rally car which is going to blow your minds.  Most of you wont even know what the car is lol.

Anyways I hope you all are enjoying your day as I know I am enjoying mine.

Rally Car Hoooooo!!

Hello All,

Yesterday we put a big chapter in our conquest of the motorsport world.  We bought our first rally car.

Gus B and I will be racing this car for the rest of the season in Rally America and NASA rally events here in Colorado and one race in Arizona.  If we do well we make think to go to California for some races during the winter.

I will be Co-driving for a while and Big Gus B will be behind the wheel.  So keep and eye on rally standings soon.

No on to pics!!

The car is an 1991 Audi Quattro.  It is a naturally aspirated 5 cylinder.  We wont be setting any records in this car but it is a great car to learn on until next year.

Thanks for looking and support your local rally habit.

E-85

Is the shit.  I just converted to it about 2 days ago and it made a huge difference.  For those of you readers that have it in your area you need to go and convert.  I was able to add about 5 degrees of timing extra and I can still keep going!!

I am going to get a boost controller and turn the boost up as my stock solenoid is just not having it.  At 15 psi I would guess I gained about 30-40 hp.  So for those of you that can switch I really highly suggest it.  If you need any advice or guidance please feel free to ask.

Big Boost Tuning

Hi,

My name is Mitch and I tune cars.  I think that I am an addict.

Not but for reals I have been tuning a good amount and have kind of fallen off of writing blogs.  This past weekend I have been working on a customers car that goes by the name of Veevik (?) I dont know how to spell his name so if I slaughtered it I apologize.

Anyways this car was bad.  18×9.5 time attack CE28N’s, C-west front, INGS +1 kit on the rest.  So it looked good but it also have a lot of go parts.

This car was built by Buscur Racing (www.buschurracing.com)  and it turned out great.  2.3l motor, built head, 272 BR cams etc etc.

This car was tuned using the AEM EMS and it went good.  Low boost on straight 91 was 26psi and with the alcohol turned on we set it at 33psi.  The turbo was an HTA GT35R and it built boost very very quick.  We had 26psi by around 4700rpm and 33psi at around 5000rpm!!!!  Now you also have to remember that we are a mile above sea level so this is fantastic spool time.  Most of the time at lower boost we dont see full boost until around 5500rpm so if you dont like it eat a dick.

boostin son!!

boostin son!!

Now onto more.  On these bigger turbo cars I really am starting to like running more boost in them with less timing.  They are a lot more fun and make some kick ass power.  33psi with just alcohol is pretty big but with a built 2.3l and a big breathing system I really think there is no reason not to.  There is not much backpressure in the system so heat comes down and allows us to run more boost with less detonation.  Really fun stuff.

Now I am not saying for anyone to just do this as the car needs to be built and set up right to do it but when it is set up right it is a lot of fun.

Pikes Peak Hill Climbing

Hello People,

This week I have been in Colorado Springs working on the some cars for the Pikes Peak Hill climb.  Pikes Peak for the unknowing is probably the biggest Hill Climb in the world.  It is also very dangerous.  It starts at 9,000 ft and ends at 14,100ft.  So it is very crucial to get a solid tune on the car and it makes it a little different to tune a car for this race.  With such a rapid change in barometric pressure getting a tune 100% really requires a lot of tweaking to make it really solid.

We took two cars up there and I went with Salta Performance.  Salta is a shop here in Denver that builds rally cars, and they can build one hell of a rally car.  These guys really know there shit.  I know that when I decide to build a rally car these guys will have not only a hand in it, but maybe a foot and some other parts in it.

Dave and his wife Allison won the Time Attack class and set a new time attack record.  Congrats to them as I know they will only get faster.

Anyways on to some pictures.

Also you will see in the pictures the famous Suzuki Escudo.   It is called the XL7 or something like this but it is still the Escudo.  This is one of the baddest cars I have ever seen in my life, and that is saying a lot cause I have seen a lot.  This car is so fucking fast it is stupid.  Power is somewhere in the 1000hp-1300hp range is what I am told.  Really an amazing car.  The antilag hit me in the chest and it took the breath right out of me.  Bad ass is an understatement.

On one last note while we were there on Race Day the Connellys got in a bad accident when they went off and split a tree.  They both broke there backs but I hear are doing ok.  My prayers go to them and hope they recover safely.

That is all enjoy the pics.
